Review for Stage Check

Objectives

  • Revisit maneuvers not practiced for some time to re-familiarize

Session Details

This is a point in lessons where much time has been recently spent on landings, and previous lessons regarding basic flight maneuvers, as well as proficiency maneuvers, have not been executed in some time. A quick revisiting of those maneuvers (slow flight, stalls, steep turns, ground reference, etc.) is warranted prior to a flight with the WCFC chief flight instructor for the required pre-solo stage check.

Additionally, before solo the FAA and the club require that the student take a number of quizzes. The FAA only requires the aircraft type quiz, but the club requires some additional quizzes. They can be found at :

  • SOP and FAR quizzes

    • 2.30: Quiz, FAR 61/91, Pre-Solo

    • 2.31: Quiz, SOP/FS, Pre-Solo, Student Pilots

  • Aircraft type-specific quizzes (pick one)

    • 2.43: Quiz, Aircraft Type Checkout, P28-161

    • 2.42: Quiz, Aircraft Type Checkout, C-172

Obviously take the aircraft type quiz appropriate to the aircraft in which you are training.
